Muslim road rage driver who hadn’t eaten for 20 days during Ramadan has jail sentence cut

Luqman Aslam (L) has had his sentence reduced to four years following mitigation in court
Luqman Aslam, 26, was involved in an altercation with the men before deliberately ploughing into them in a busy city centre.
Shocking footage of the dramatic incident shows several victims being hit by his van, with two ending up on the bonnet.
Incredibly, nobody was killed or seriously injured in the attack which happened in Lee Street, Leicester, on the evening of June 28 last year.
An onlooker said at the time: "It was horrific, the driver crossed over onto the opposite lane of the road before veering onto the pavement and went straight into the men.
It's quite remarkable that nobody was seriously hurt or killed and the only injuries complained of were bruises and scratches
Recorder Justin Wigoder
"They went flying like skittles. God only knows how anyone survived."
He was jailed for five years and banned from driving for four-and-a-half years at Leicester Crown Court in June after admitting dangerous driving and attempting to inflict GBH.
But the father-of-one had his jail term cut to four years at London's Appeal Court on Friday.
Judge Jeremy Carey claimed that Aslam had "used the car as a weapon."

Onlookers expressed their shock that no-one was badly injured
However, he noted that there was "substantial mitigation" and that the driver had not received sufficient credit for his guilty pleas.
It was also claimed that Aslam was a "quiet" family man and had been fasting for 20 days at the time of the incident.
The court heard how three of the pedestrians were left injured in the road rage, but none seriously.
One was flung onto the road, another struck the bonnet "full in the face" and the last "hit the dead centre of the bonnet."
At the time of his original sentencing, Recorder Justin Wigoder said: "What you did after that is totally shocking.
"You quite deliberately drove your van at that group who were walking along the pavement.
"You deliberately mounted the pavement and drove straight at them and right through the middle of them at speed.
"It's quite remarkable that nobody was seriously hurt or killed and the only injuries complained of were bruises and scratches."
